Care and maintenance
Care and maintenance of solid wood furniture treated with natural oil
Regular cleaning of furniture is done with a soft cloth slightly soaked in warm water. Avoid using any detergents or chemicals. We recommend wiping wooden surfaces once a month.
Regular maintenance is as needed. The sequence of necessary steps is as follows…
Clean the wooden surface. For good results, stains and dirt must be completely removed before re-oiling.
Before reapplying the oil, gently sand the entire wooden surface with a fine sanding sponge. Do not sand perpendicular to the wood grain.
Remove sanding residue with a dry cloth or soft brush.
Apply the oil with a sponge or cloth. The oil is applied in a thin and even layer over the entire wooden surface that you are treating. Leave the oil to stand for about ten minutes and then carefully and thoroughly wipe the excess oil from the wooden surfaces with a new and clean cotton cloth.
Wait for the treated wooden surfaces to dry. Oil drying time depends on temperature and humidity. The new coat of oil must be completely dry before the piece of furniture is used again.
Keep in mind that cloths or sponges that have been used to treat wood with oil can spontaneously combust, which is why they must always be stored in an airtight metal container or disposed of in a suitable manner.
Glass
Never use abrasive or sharp objects to clean the glass. The glass should be wiped with a dry cloth. If necessary, clean the surface with a cloth and glass cleaner.
Leather
Dust and dirt leave traces on the leather over time, so regular cleaning and maintenance is the best way to ensure the long life of the leather parts of your furniture. Vacuum occasionally, preferably with an attachment with a soft brush, but be careful not to rub the material roughly. Also, you may use a dry cloth to remove dust or dirt. If the liquid is spilled on the leather, act quickly and wipe off as much as possible with a dry cloth or paper. Be careful not to rub the surface.
Exposure to sunlight or heat can also affect the leather parts of the furniture, so we recommend that you avoid placing the pieces next to windows, radiators or fireplaces.
Stone
Stone surfaces can be cleaned with a dry cloth. Dirt can usually be removed with a cloth and lukewarm water. If the stain persists on the stone surface, use a mild detergent. Always dry the surface after cleaning.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, strong chemicals or sharp objects as this can damage the stone surface. Natural stone is a porous material and liquids such as coffee, tea or wine can leave stains.
Stainless steel
Wipe the stainless steel furniture parts with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
